Third down and three. Sears runs for less than a yard. Fourth and three. IU keeps the offense on the field and Lewis gives it to Sears again. It's not even close and IU turns it over on downs. Less than 2 minutes to go.
WMU completes a pass at the 35 and the receiver gets out of bounds. It's a gain of two. Second and eight is an incomplete pass. Third down. 1:41 to go.
Simmons makes the catch on third down for a first down in IU territory. The radio guys say the officials missed offensive pass interference. First down is an incompletion. Second down is incomplete. Third and 10. The catch is made at the IU 19 for a first down. 1:10 to go.
First down ... another catch at the 13 yard line. 47 seconds. Second down pass is incomplete. Third down ... pass is knocked away. Holding is called on WMU. IU took the penalty. Third down and long.
The Hoosiers get a sack to force fourth down. That should end the game. Last snap throw in the end zone ... incomplete!!! IU gets the ball back with 2 seconds. They take a knee and the victory.
IU wins it 37-27 over Western Michigan. IU is 2-0, but still has some work to do. The second half was anything but pretty, especially after the big time first half. But I loved the defensive effort. They came up with all the big plays in this game and that is a good omen for the future.
Akron is next. It's 12:18 a.m. Sunday. That game lasted about 4 hours. I'm going to bed.
